Does Mauryan Empire has a role in present situation of India

This post was written in response to following question on Quora-

What would be the current position of India if there were strong rulers of the Mauryan Empire who were able to maintain their rule over India and defend it from all subsequent invasions that we faced?

I do not think that would have made much difference. All over the world there have been great empires in different ages, ruled by different dynasties. I do not think few more stronger generations of Mauryans could have made any difference. Even after Mauryans there have been large empires but none of those was of all India character.
Other strong kingdoms:
The thing that could have saved India was if we were able to meet last onslaught of middle east invasion and that happened more than 1000 years after Mauryans. In between there have been many glorious dynasties in east (Pals), West (Rashtrakuts), North (Harsha) and South (Cholas) to mention few. But when crucial time came we did not have anybody.
Marathas:
Marathas were last hope which could have made the fate of India different as they could have saved us from British loot, but then they lost to Ahmed Shah Durrani of Afghanistan.
Reasons:
There are various reasons for these changes and surprisingly those were more economic and social than political.

Most important of those was rigid caste system. And this did not arise in one day. It did not even became rigid in one day. It has different political and economic history altogether. According to Adam Smith, known as father of economics, as any society progress there is division of labour for more efficient production. And that is how this caste system started. Slowly it became so rigid that it divided the society and divided society became so weak that anybody could invade and defeat it and then started a long downward spiral. We are still struggling against it. Only solution was social reforms.
 - Social Reforms:
And it is not that social reforms did not take place. Time to time social reforms happened. There were Gautam Buddha, Mahavir Jain, Guru Nanak Dev etc. But at a crucial junction we became a rotting society largely around 17th and 18th century.

Conclusion:
So the present situation is because of two periods. One in 12th and thirteenth century when we lost to outsiders decidedly and then in 17th - 18th century where we could not do any social reform and lagged behind in technology for the first time while Europe moved fastest after its social reforms in 16th and 17th century.

Final Solution:
Way ahead is to come out of caste system at present, spread education and reform our education system drastically to make it value based and bring it away from McCaully (system of producing useful slaves for British empire). And we have our last chance now.

Is Narendra Modi Strongest Leader We Have In Our Living Memories In India?

Can't agree more!!!
If you look at Indian politics after independence he is the only PM who derived his power from the people directly (One of my closest friend says he is strongest leader India had have after Chandra Gupta Maurya some 2300 years ago, I agree will that but will not go for or against it here).

Before I go into details I would like to say that all leaders/politicians/PMs have something in them to reach there, supported by circumstances and conditions.

Nehru was having strongest grip on power in India. But he owed his rise to his rich and famous father and them blessing of Mohandas Gandhi. Once the state machinery was in his hands he had formidable control. He was only PM who could have managed to be dictator but he was not strongest as the country behind him was not as strong as India of Today.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was again too much dependent on Congress party. Although he proved to be strong leader but his tenure was not very long.

Indira Gandhi owed her position to being daughter of Nehru. She managed to win elections and side-step her opposition within the party and managed to have dictatorial power after imposing emergency.

Morarji Bhai Desai was PM but he was leading a faction ridden party. He was not even the boss of his own party. Same goes for Narsimharao, V P Singh, Chandra Shekhar, Devi Gauda, Gujral etc.

Rajiv Gandhi had most formidable mandate till date but again he was there not because of his talents but because of being from family of former PMs.

Manmohan Singh was proxy at the best. Sonia Gandhi was much more powerful than him and he served at her mercy.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was there but he was too much dependent on his allies. He had to be very cautious all the time.

And then comes Narendra Modi. He rose from lowest echoleons of the society. Rising through the ranks. Understanding people at different levels. Gaining experience of governing the state before being PM, won the election for his cherishma, winning a victory which was totally his own victory. Became first non-Congress PM where party and government is under his control with popular backing by people without being son/daughter/relative of any powerful person. He is the man who has vision and necessary support to implement his vision. Thus he is the strongest leader India have in our memories or anytime after independence.

Indian Influence in Past and Future

This post was generated to an answer of a question on Quora. Innocent looking question was, "When will India rise up and rule the world like it did in the ancient times?"

First thing is India never ruled the world. We had our sphere of influence because of our trade and cultural links. Whole of Indo-China (Far East Asia including Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia etc.) had Indian culture to varying extent. Buddhism was greatest export of Indian culture. Powerful empires like Srivijaya empire in Indo-China was very close to India culturally.

Please remember India never colonised any country. Wherever our ancestors went they carried their culture of tolerance and value system base on dignity of life. Today in post colonial world everybody is talking of these things and that is good for whole humanity.

Here it is to be understood very clearly if one country is prosperous and powerful, world will be influenced automatically. We are moving in that direction slowly coming out of rut and degradation that British Raj brought to us. We have many people with low self esteem and "Gora Sahib mentality" ruling top echelons of Indian intelligentsia for almost 70 years in post independence India. But with advent of new nationalistic government in Delhi things are again moving in right direction. Evacuation in Yemen is telling example of extension of this soft power of India. And this soft power will carry positive influence of India across the world again.

So in short we never ruled the world, we never wanted to rule the world but have influenced world positively and trying to get into that position again. may be it will take 50 more years and before that we need to sort out our problem of caste system, division of society, educate our people, remove poverty in the process and then we shall be very much there again.

Nahruvian Blunders

This post was triggered by following question on Quora.
What are the possible solutions to the Nehruvian Blunder? From a UN permanent seat, to solving the Kashmir Dispute, to settling borders with China, what is the way forward for India?

Lets take one by one.
UN Permanent Seat:
As for UN seat let bygone be gone. We can strengthen our country economically and militarily and stake the claim to our rightful position as our PM said that it is our right and all governments let by Congress or BJP worked towards it.
Kashmir:
As for Kashmir that is biggest blunder and it is bleeding India till date. 20% of valley population was chased out by fanatics and they are living as refugees in their own country unable to stake claim to what belonged to them. In my opinion best solution will be to divide J&K into three regions (Jammu, Kashmir and Laddakh). Give autonomy to Kashmir region and settle the ousted people there in fortified colonies. Withdraw the army and seal the borders completely till the time they understand futility of hosting terrorists. At the same time put pressure on Pakistan to give autonomy to the region under their control. Help the people indirectly in PoK. Waait for the things to boil till population realize the greater evil of being under Pak control. Then remove article 370 and take required measures as per requirements of the times.

Border dispute with China:
Make our economy and army strong enough to negotiate with China on equal footings. As of now after losing war of 1962 (another Nehruvian blunder), we are not in position to negotiate from position of equality.

So basically solution lies in development of our own country and people.

History of Post-Independence Indian Politics

It is long period but I would like to summarize-

Partition:
In 1947 when British were leaving India the country had only two major political parties viz. Congress and Muslim League. They could not reconcile their differences, consequently India was divided between India and Pakistan. India for Congress and Pakistan for Muslim league.

1947 - 57 and First General Elections in 1952:
First General Elections were held in 1952. As there was no major political party to fight against Congress as Muslim league had already taken part of India as Pakistan and was not in contention. Communist party became second largest party with 16 seats (against 364 of Congress). There were several other socialist parties but their effect was limited to certain areas. Bhartiya Jana Sangh (BJS) which was predecessor of current Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) fought the elections but got 3 seats only. Politics was mostly politics of powerful and all the people who wanted to enjoy the privileges joined Congress for that to fill the vacuum left behind by Britishers and various kingdoms which were dissolved. But during this time lot of political activities were taking place and various parties were gaining ground in different parts of countries.

It was hoped that Communist party will be greatest challenger to Congress. But it was confined mostly to Bengal and Kerala. Here it is to be noted that even though Congress was only party with all India presence and recognition, still they did not get even 50% of the popular votes.

At top J L Nehru was dominating Congress party. He was already promoting his daughter Indira as M L Nehru has promoted JL Nehru. He got her elected to president-ship of Congress.

1957-75 Dominance is challenged:
In 1957 first elected communist government of the world came to power in Kerala state of India. It was first defeat for Congress in any major state. In 1967 DMK led by charismatic MGR came to power in Tamilnadu. Meanwhile Nehru had died in 1962 and Indira got hold of party and government after untimely death of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Now hold of dynasty was complete over the grand old party and several leader who felt suffocated in this new set up, they resigned Congress to form their own parties. Several parties were born and most important of those was Bhartiya Kranti Dal formed by Chaudhry Charan Singh in 1967, who went on to be prime minister of India.During this period several more states had shown doors to Congress and it was crumbling. In fact Indira Gandhi had divided the party to keep her hold on the party after being expelled by party president S. Nijalingappa in 1969. Till this time Congress and later on Congress (Indira) were comfortably dominating country at national level even though they had lost power in several states and no opposition was present at national level.

1975-1980 Emergency, dictatorship and first Non-Congress government at center. Whole opposition unites under the leadership of Jaiprakash Narayan naming itself Janta Party.

1980: BJP is born which went on to be first political party to face Caongress in more than one election at national level and ultimately becoming pole of alternative politics after 1989.

1980-1989: Another decade of Congress rise of first major opposition at larger scale in the form of BJP.

1989-90: Second non-Congress government. Janta Dal supported by BJP. It is first coalition government in true sense.

1990-91: First government supported by Congress from outside.

1991-96: First minority government lead by Congress.

All this while regional parties were rising. Lalu, Mulayam, Mayawati, Biju patnaik, Jayalalita, Mamta, Devi Lal, Bala Saheb created big regional forces.

1996-1998: Coalition governments supported by Congress just to stop BJP. Concept of political secularism gain popularity.

1998-2004: First non Congress government complete full term in office (1999-2004). Atal Bihari Vajpayee became first prime minister who was never associated with Congress in any form.

2004-2014: Return of Congress but just as leader of coalition. Families continue to dominate regional parties as well as Congress (where process started much earlier). Regional forces has achieved the peak.

2014........: Politics is changed decisively. First full majority non-Congress government in Delhi led by charismatic leader Narendra Modi. Congress, which was central script all these years is reduced to two digit. Defeated so badly that it can not even claim position of leader of opposition.

New era begins as country get first full majority government after 1984.

What Is RSS

RSS as the name suggest is राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ  (Rashtriya Swyam Sevak Sangh), which can be translated National Volunteers Organization. It has an organizational constitution. The RSS was founded on Vijayadasami Day, 27 September 1925 as a social organization by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, who was a doctor in the city of Nagpur. It is a non-political organization.

Mission:

In the words Golwalkar who was third Sarsanghsanchalalal (head) of RSS the mission of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as the revitalisation of the Indian value system based on universalism and peace and prosperity to all. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम), the worldview that the whole world is one family, propounded by the ancient thinkers of India, is considered as the ultimate mission of the organisation

During Partition

RSS has always worked towards nation building; its first major contribution in nation building was during partition in 1947. Noted Gandhian and recipient of the highest civilian award in India, Bharat Ratna, Bhagwan Das commended the role of the "high-spirited and self-sacrificing boys" of the RSS in protecting the newly formed Republic of India, from a planned coup to topple the Jawaharlal Nehru Administration in Delhi.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli

After the independence of India, RSS was one of the socio-political organisations who supported and participated in movements to decolonise Dadra and Nagar Haveli, which was at the time ruled by Portuguese colonists.

Support to government during wars with China and Pakistan:

Whenever there was a national crisis RSS was at the forefront to help the governments of the day without any bias towards any political party.
The RSS was invited by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to take part in the Republic Day parade of 1963 in recognition of its volunteer work during the Sino-Indian War in 1962.
During Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri requested RSS cadres to help control traffic in Delhi, so policemen could be freed for defence duties.
In 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence, RSS volunteers offered their services to maintain law and order of the country and were apparently the first to donate blood.

Service During Calamities

Whenever there is a calamity RSS cadres are the first to reach the spot and start helping the people. So not only during national crisis like wars but during other internal problems like floods, earthquake also you will find RSS cadres at the forefront. They do not seek any publicity as they consider selfless service to mother India their greatest reward. Yes, they consider India as their mother. One of their motto is जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी (Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi) meaning mother and motherland are greater than heaven.

Criticism

RSS is often criticised by the people who do not know anything about it. They criticise it out of pure hatred. Some politicians in India criticise RSS because it is a road block in their selfish motives as it does a great job of educating the people and inculcating a strong sense of patriotism in them.

Why Cow Was Treated as Mother

This one sprang from a question in quora and part of the question was-
Are Indians, who treat cows as mothers and consume milk products, vegan?

"In India, in the olden days, we took cows as mother. According to scriptures also, there are seven mothers: (1) the real mother, (2) the wife of the spiritual master, (3) the wife of a brahmana, (4) the wife of the king, (5) the cow, (6) the nurse, and (7) the earth. All of them are mothers. Even in present days every Indian is taught in school (Gaya hamari mata hai i.e. Cow is our mother)."

For me question provoked much deeper thoughts than just categorizing the people.

As it is said in the question itself, cow is mother like mother earth. Like We consume produce of mother earth, so we do consume produce of cow. Right to life is implicit in Indian culture. There are several classifications and people are comfortable in their own belief systems. So it is always easy to criticism other's belief system. But there is one more fundamental in Indian culture and that is not to hurt the feelings of others. So this mentality that only my way is right way is never overwhelming in India. As for cow being holy there are economic reasons for that. In brief, cow was basis of existence of agrarian society. So when two kingdoms fight you can kill all the cows and destroy the society as society would not have been able to survive without agriculture. To avoid this destruction cow was elevated to be holy. After that you can win the territory, conquer the people but land will not lay waste and civilization will not be destroyed. Over the years people developed different degrees of reverence towards this. But net result was that in India you will not find destructive wars where whole tracts were laid waste. Because your own soldiers will not support you in absolute destruction. So caw was major part of this equation. Similarly in India women and children were not attacked and enslaved (which was quiet common in western society). Now it has become quiet fashionable to degrade this status provided to cow without understanding the whole picture. People enter into hollow technicalities without going into depth of issue. Only in past 100 year, it is possible to do large scale agriculture without muscle power of oxen, bulls, horses, camel etc, depending on which society you come from. But usefulness of cow or for that matter other farm animals is coming to the for once again with increasing emphasis on organic produce. Within 30-40 years time, we shall be able understand this issue in larger perspective. So caw was accorded status of mother not just for being a vegetarian society. There were larger reasons behind this. And that larger reason was agriculture and survival of whole society.

In coastal areas of India, people were never supposed to be pure vegetarians, still they considered cow as mother because it fitted into the equation of their agriculture.

Now urban people who just had modern schooling are not educated about these facts. And for the masses, you can not ask them to work on pure logic so a belief was created that cow is holy or cow is mother but real reason was economic and survival of human society.

Why not to increase the marks of Class 7 Artificially

In the new education system propagated by the HRD ministry for the government schools affiliated to CBSE no student can be retained in any class till 9th standard. Immediate implication of this system is that students do not care about the studies because they know that nobody can retain them. So there is no use of studies for them.

Can we blame children for not studying?

Children are children after all and they want to play and enjoy. Since most of these students come from the families where nobody is there to educate them about the importance of education. Even if you have the most dedicated teachers in the world to educate these students can they be motivated? How they can be motivated? Since teachers are forbidden to discipline these raw brains so there is no way to discipline these when the atmosphere at home and neighbourhood is not conductive for studies. Now the only incentive was to motivate them to maintain their respect in their peer group by scoring good marks or at least to reach next level with their efforts. Since the policy has taken away that incentive to learn as well by promoting these students to next level so there is no way that these students can learn.

How unethical system is being forced?

So when principles in the schools ask the teachers to solve the questions on their answer sheets to give them better marks it is double crime. First you never let the students know where they really stand. Second you ask teachers to do unethical thing.
Coming to unethical thing, system is designed cleverly. It is responsibility without the resources. Resource is discipline. You have taken that resource away from the teachers. Then question the teachers about the poor performance of students pretending to be unaware of the situation. Fact is that only absolute idiots will not see students knocking the doors in the schools and shouting all the time and making nuisance. But principles believe they are playing smart while every person with common sense knows that they are asking stupid question. May be principles are further under pressure from their superior. While propagating such a stupid system they want sensible citizens of this country that they are being sensitive.
Same thing is being done in 10th standard as well, but that is subject of another blog. Here at least teachers should be honest and give marks honestly. So that the teachers when they face these students whose future is spoiled by the new system, know that what was the past record of these students who can not divide or multiply in 7th standard. Who get absolute zeros.
Let somebody tell it to the people who are designing a foolhardy system. We as citizans of this country has this duty towards our future generation. As human beings we have this duty to perform for our progenies.

Modi is filling the vacuum of visible leadership in India

In all the discussions about the rise of Narendra Modi, we never seem to consider the most obvious explanation. There is an iron law in global politics: when things are going well, people don’t worry too much about leadership. They want non-controversial politicians who stay out of their way and let them get on with their lives without needless conflict.
Crisis is the testing time for leadership, therefore when things go wrong, people look for the opposite. They want visible leadership. They prefer their politicians to be totally in control because in those times they need a leader and not a politician and there rise a statesman. They like somebody who is not scared of conflict. They want to be inspired; they are really looking for reassurance. They want a leader who knows the way out of the crisis.
History is replete with examples of this phenomenon. The best one is Winston Churchill. For most of his career, he was reviled as a dangerous demagogue, an egomaniac, a man in search of conflict, an arrogant leader who brooked no dissent and whose views were imperialist and racist. (He called Mahatma Gandhi a ‘half-naked fakir’.)
But when World War II broke out, the same people who had once cast him out called on Churchill to lead the country. All the qualities that had once seemed so objectionable — the arrogance, the demagoguery, and his conviction that only he understood the way ahead — now seemed inspirational. And no wonder he lived upto it. When Luftwaffe was bombarding London and war was on British territory it was Churchil only who could keep the moral of people high through his inspirational and patriotic speeches. When many in United Kingdom were thinking of capitulation it was Churchil who kept Britain going and in the end they emerged victorious.
There are so many other examples — Charles De Gaulle, Margaret Thatcher, etc — that the Americans have a slang term for the phenomenon. In good times, people want to be Mummy-ed. But in bad times, they want Daddy to show them the way.
It does not require a massive leap of imagination to see how this phenomenon has manifested itself in India. The UPA took office in good times, when most Indians were not only better off than before but also believed that things would keep getting better. BJP led NDA gave them economy in such a good condition. Although NDA lost the election fought on “India shining” slogan but feel good could be felt all over the country.
In that era, we were happy to be Mummy-ed. And the mild-mannered Manmohan Singh, with his technocratic skills, looked like the perfect prime minister. Five years later, when things were still good and results of mis-governance were not out, India re-elected the UPA with a larger margin.
It is significant that Narendra Modi was around in 2004 when the UPA took office. He was already chief minister of Gujarat but was regarded as a fringe figure. When the UPA won re-election in 2009, Modi had become the BJP’s most powerful chief minister.
His opponents still could paint a picture of him as just a regional strongman, and as a politician who was divisive and hoped to keep him away from Delhi easily.
So, why is it that Modi’s fortunes have been so completely transformed? Why is he now a putative prime minister? And why is Manmohan Singh the most unpopular prime minister in recent memory?
It isn’t as though Modi has changed. He is still working silent magic of exemplary performance in Gujarat. Industry has started to run towards Gujarat. His opponents still brand him as arrogant and polarising with some success.
The difference is that times have changed. The economy has tanked. Nobody believes that we will be better off in the years ahead — not as long as this government is in office, anyway.
Law and order has spun out of control. The government cannot control prices. And corruption scandal after corruption scandal rocks the government.
History tells us that in times of crisis, people need inspirational leadership. And yet, this government has provided no evidence that it knows how to lead. Never in Indian history have top leaders been so remote and so uncommunicative. Rarely has a prime minister seemed less in control. At a time when India needs to feel that he knows the way out of this mess, he is himself ducking for cover.
Instead, it is Modi who has seized the opportunity and filled the gap, whole nation is looking towards him. For some people he has already become a demigod. In a country where caste and class plays an important role, Modi has appeal spanning across social divide. While the UPA’s leaders cower, he goes from rally to rally. He talks of solutions in the form of the Gujarat model. He gives interviews. He blogs. He tweets. He provides sound-bites. And in his demagoguery lies the hope that many insecure Indians are looking for.
It is not as though some sections in media have stopped harping on the events of 2002, ignoring any other riot in the country (1984 Sikh riots and more than 15 large scale communal riots only in Gujarat, under different congress chief ministers, and Maliyana, Bhagalpur, Assam, Neili etc). It is just that at a time when a crisis-ridden India is being run by an invisible prime minister, many Indians will take visible leadership they can find and Modi today stands out in their eyes, he raises their hopes.
The UPA has spent too long ignoring the rise of Narendra Modi. It has failed to successfully demolish his well entranched claims on behalf of the Gujarat model. It makes the mistake of believing that painting Modi as polarising figure will keep people from voting for him.
The only hope for the UPA is to demonstrate that there is life beyond Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet and coterie of yesterday’s men. It must push a younger generation forward and suggest that it can provide strong, imaginative and visible leadership. But as far as anybody can see no such thing is forthcoming from UPA which rules with most aged and outdated cabinet in Indian history.
Its leaders can no longer afford to parachute in and out of the issues. There must be sustained engagement in political discourse and there must be evidence of bold decision-making.

Otherwise, in urban India at least, Modi is fast becoming the man of the future; not he has a lot of connections or he uses the famed caste equation but because the UPA has forgotten how to govern and how to lead and he has impeccable record of governance. And nature abhors a vacuum.
To fill this vacuum there is Modi, who is a leader par excellence, a great statesman, a self made man, impeccable personal integrity, an ascetic who has devoted his life to the country. Even Wiki Leaks cables, a third party cold, neutral observation of Foreign Diplomat about Modi is, "Modi's office is unlike any other politician in India, there are no party workers or hanger ons allowed".
Such is the man in whom masses in India has set their hopes.
PS: This inspired by Vir Sanghvi's article in Hindustan Times with the same title. Many lines are taken as it is from Sanghvi's article. Following is the link to his article-

Rahul's Ordinance Remark: Public Humiliation of Indian Government and State

While his mother is running the government and he gives such an statement after two days, it is complete nonsense. Yes if she was not listening to him he could have come to us the people and complained, but he did complete non-sense and everybody understood that it was a drama. Circumstances suggests that script went something like this-

.... Initially they thought that they will get it passed by parliament itself which will help in furthering their propaganda that all parties are the same. .... But meanwhile somebody in BJP realized it and they jumped the boat, Mulayam (he is cleverer than a fox, inspired by चाचा चौधरी का दिमाग Computer से तेज़ चलता है ) was next to take the clue...... and refused to cooperate. So CONs choose to bring in an ordinance. However everybody else decided to play honest like Kejriwal (knowing fully well they do not have anything to loose and blame others). Over and above that, president gave jolt of lifetime to CONs (That is why Sonia never wanted to make Pranabda president of India, she know he has this problem of asserting his authority and he is not ideal puppet of con style) by refusing to sign the amendment. Cornered by all, this CONs thought of a way out; and best way out for sycophants was to pretend that they listened to a visionary leader off Pappu fame (Rahul Gandhi). This way they will have excuse and Pappu will be glorified in succeeding where supreme court and president and whole opposition failed. Unfortunately for Pappu and gang, India is not as uneducated as they would have liked it to be. So, people on social networking sites discussed the issue thoroughly and now media moguls on pay roll of Pappu's mom and her con gang called CONgress can not dismiss it as conspiracy theory as sections of media has starting falling out of CON line and trying to give some honest opinion .

Drama is still going on as I am writing this blog. CONs send a letter to PM while they realized that they have misfired and people have understood that their hollow claims of democracy have been exposed and people have understood that how badly it hurt the reputation and image of whole country. But they were not bothered about the reputation of the country, however above drama have made cons laughing stock all over the country. So in this case scenario they send this letter to PM in the name of Rahul (It was actually not required, after all PM MMS is nothing more than a servant for Pappu's mom). It was written for the benefit of common men to tell them that Pappu respected PM. So keeping this goal in mind letter was published in media under the heading that it was leaked... (it is very unfortunate that all sensitive letter of our PM get leaked and important files go missing like in coal scam.

Meanwhile, when all this drama is going on, PM is busy in selling the interest of India. In all this hype and drama real news of PM compromising the interests of nation by diluting nuclear liability bill. Good thing for cons is that whole country is busy criticizing their idiot Pappu. Sometimes I believe that even the cons of Congress party in India believe Rahul to be idiot. And they did all this drama to divert attention from nuclear liability where they are selling the country. This belief is firmed up even more when I see 90% of educated Indians being against Congress. So Congress is not bothered about you or me, it is bothered about foreign masters most probably and hence they are producing high voltage drama starring Pappu which automatically became super-hit.

Who get absolute zeros.

Let somebody tell it to the people who are designing a foolhardy system. We as citizans of this country has this duty towards our future generation. As human beings we have this duty to perform for our progenies.

Why Narendra Modi Might Not Be PM Of India

Today Narendra Modi is the most loved and praised CM of any state of India. Many young people want to see him as next prime minister of the country. He has already propelled state of Gujarat to be front-line state of India and ftill fastest growing state in country, he has been on the cover of time magazine. He has got more votes than anybody else in Time 100 poll (second highest as a individual in positive vote and highest negative votes). In fact volume of negative votes shows kind of fear he invoke in the minds of his distractors. High number of positive votes shows how much he is loved by the people. Both put together tell us a story that he is the man of hour. You love or hate him but you can not ignore the man. He is praised as great administrators whosoever visit the state of Gujarat, everybody acknowledge that he is man of hour.

However even with all this credibility and recognition when it comes to talk of him as prime minister of India there is a lot of debate. Most of the mainstream media do not like him at all. Thanks to twitter and facebook now we know the level of his popularity with young India. His distractors have tried to pin down him so many time for post-Godhra riots which he controlled very efficiently. All inquiries have not been able to point a finger at him. Still his opponents with the help of main stream media keep on harping the same discredited theme where they blame him for riots forgetting altogether what caused the public anger.

India is a large country and only 65% of its people are literate, that include nominally literate as well. There everybody do not go and think about the things. People go by emotions and emotions are inflammable, particularly when you do not have the knowledge. His opponents in other parties are afraid of confronting him. They do not stand a ground in front of his achievements. For him problem comes from the dynamics of Indian politics. Here minority votes are polarized. Now dilemma of his own party is that if they project him then all votes will be polarized against them, hence they can not afford to declare his candidature before election. This dilemma helps opponents of his party.

Then second factor is that in today's India he belong to a party which has so many eligible leaders who are capable and they might not go for declaring the name in advance. This is however small issue.

Then there is the factor of allies. Now when Indian politics is dominated by powerful regional parties, BJP also has to rely on allies. Some of these allies are caught in image trap. In fact largest ally JD(U) is caught in this dilemma. Hence because of this reason also BJP can not declare Modi as candidate.

There is another side of this problem. Since minority is already against BJP with or without Modi, hence party should not indulge in vote-bank politics like other parties. They should come out of it and strengthen the grass-root network of the party. Of the significant allies only JD (U) have a problem with Modi. That is also because of vote-bank politics. But party can not ignore it.

Hence even though India has produced a administrator of the caliber of Modi, people of this nation can not enjoy the effective administration he can provide and we as a nation deserve after years of loot by grand old ruling party of present days.

In this world we get what we deserve and that is going to happen with us. Although we have great leader like Modi among us but we also have large illiterate population, we have politics of caste and religion. Since you can not take illiterate people above these division until and unless you educate them, we will always end up with a government that is elected by non-thinking people voting on fault line of the society. This problem is further intensified by the fact that most of highly educated people work away from their homes and can not go for voting and they do not go for voting.

Therefor in the end we will end up with what we deserve collectively (that is lack-lusture and corrupt government led by CONgress) not the best (A honest government headed by able administrator).

Coal Scam: Mother of all scams- Enough!!!!!!!

We are baffled and speechless looking at the scale of the scam. No wonder that growth rate in India came down, fiscal deficit is going up when government is wasting money like this. Sample this 10.67 Lakh Crore, wow!!!!!!! It is unimaginable money. Now while discussing it people are asking me who did this scam? Of course not one single person.Yes we can say it is Manmohan Singh (Mr Clean) directly responsible this time because he was holding the ministry at that time.

Then there come one defense that never before coal auction was done and we should be thankful to this UPA government for starting the coal auction. Wow!!!! sounds good naaa.., but there is a catch. Never before this coal blocks were allotted to private parties. Indira Gandhi had nationalized coal mining long back.

Scale of scam is 10.67 Lakh crores as per CAG scam, but it is actually much more than that. CAG said they have taken only lowest quality into consideration and medium quality coal is also produced in the same place. Hence scale is bigger but even this figure of 10.67 lakh crores is huge.

Now question is why it did not come to light for so long? It came to light but unfortunately all our media is sold out. Ofbeat newspapers and websites talked about it long back but not our mainstream media.
http://www.eng.chauthiduniya.com/2011/04/mega-scam-in-coal-worth-26-lakh-crores
Even our main opposition party talked about it at least one year ago but our media choose to ignore it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIuo2RRFg0o&feature=player_embedded

After all most of it is paid media controlled by Congress party with the help of money it get from these mega scams. Hence every scam increase the apatite of these guys for bigger scams.

This thing will go on until we throw out this party.

In fact there is only one disease in this country and that disease is corruption and its main source is Congress party. SO often people make this point that all the politicians are corrupt, but then we should be aware of the scale of corruption. This attitude of our people that they want either a saint or they do not care about devil is actually giving them devil. Lets be human beings and think of it and decide. Time has come to take action.

USA: Champion of Democracy and Freedom or Worst Oppressor

USA is supposed to be the land of opportunity. Most of the scientific research in past half century have come from there. They have one of the oldest functioning democracy in the world. But there is another side of this story, which will be clear if you read these two news items and think of the background little bit-

First one is about Palestine which fear loss of aid from USAID. Reason because they dared to ask for freedom and equality. They tried to go to UN.

Second one is about the intention of US led west to invade or support a rebellion, ostensibly to help the people to get rid of their president. But Russia and China plays spoil sport this time.

Now if I say that it is all about oil, then there will be nothing new so many people are saying it for all the wars that USA has fought in middle east. Of course oil is one of the factors, Syria has got the oil and Palestine has not. But when you say just oil next question that come to mind is why USA was giving aid to Palestine although now it seems to oppose their right to equality and freedom? Now if you go through time article you will find, "The Palestinians have received about $500 million a year from the U.S. alone in recent years, including tens of millions of dollars for training the Palestinian security services. The partial suspension of aid by Congress mainly affects development and infrastructure programs being supervised by USAID but not the support for the security services." So it mean only development aid is to be stopped and not the aid for so called security services. Now what is the function of security services? Simple, they have to maintain law and order in area. To put it bluntly they have to kill or detain those Palestinians who are protesting against Israel. And although Israel is exploiting all the resources of Palestine, it can not sent it boys in Palestinian streets because that mean they will be attached. So it is damn good trick of controlling the enemy by bleeding enemy itself. You will say only wow!!!!!!!! what a tactful thinking and planning. And as said in earlier they will stop only funds mean for development and not for security, obviously because that security is more for Israel friend than for Palestine beggar (the way USA treat Palestine).

Lets take the case of Syria now. It is a country which has shown steady growth in-spite of so called dictatorship (as if other friends of USA are democracy in middle east). It has not towed US line on so many occasion. It has done the sin of independent policy making. Even though its oil reserves are not that much but it has shown a steady and stable growth. All that worries USA. While all its puppets have shown signs of discomfort these people showed no such sign. Egypt and Tunisia fell to US's surprise and Libya proved tough nut to crack even after invasion. SO it wanted to play the game through UN mandate, which did not come this time. This time China and Russia showed some maturity. Last time (in case of Libya), they abstained but this time they stood up to occasion.

The US ambassador, Susan Rice, said: "The courageous people of Syria can now clearly see who on this council supports their yearning for liberty and human rights, and who does not." They actually know what is USA or at least world knows. Courageous people of Iraq will tell how their mighty economy sunk with you and how they suffered because of you. Why do not America think of Somalia, Congo etc. They need real help.

World has changed a lot and it is changing faster. While just six months ago USA could do same thing to Libya it could not do it with Syria. Economics equations have changed a lot in six months. Economically USA is much more shaky than it was six months ago. Its credit rating has been degraded, economy continues to stagger, debt is increasing and its own people are turning against military-industrial-financial complex. Citizens are turning in wall street. these are the sign of change.

These things have happened before but this time it is different. there was no alternative when it happened earlier but today there is alternative in rising nations of the east (India and China). There was Europe which was more or less dependent on US itself, now even that Europe although aged, but stand on its feet much more respectfully than USA.

Times are changing and it will be no surprise that if within 10-15 years, same USA which have started so many turmoils in the modern world would be in chaos. Then may be there will be rebirth of this country but for now sun is setting and past is catching up. Once land of opportunity (because they hunted down natives) is now fully suckled up by opportunist suckers. World is awaking.

History is in transition: Will it be Rahul Vinci or Development

Of late, following Anna Hazare's agitation, true face of our politicians and Congress in particular has come to light as a result of which the Congress is being criticized by media and majority of intellectuals. Many sections of these media and intellectuals are those who used to be die hard supporters of Congress. Columnists are declaring not just the beginning of the decline of India's Grand Old Party (GOP), but also the fading lustre of Rahul Gandhi, projected as the youth icon by the Congress and as the face of the future. That so called youth icon seems to have failed completely as of now because young generation has started asking questions about his credibility, which he do not have any answers to offer nor his GOP. Political initiative - in the form of a fast - by Narendra Modi is being seen as a game-changer of sorts and large sections of media has started comparing the two. In a time when Rahul has nothing to show he is being given publicity just by comparing with Modi, who has drawn the clear attention of masses, particularly middle class and everybody is impressed by his work in governance in Gujarat.

Recently, two articles in the national media compared Rahul's present situation to that of Rajiv Gandhi during the Bofors controversy, and even  to Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal emperor. And if we see these comparisons with benefit of knowledge of history in hindsight, these comparisons are not totally unfounded. Anna’s movement was first chance that history gave him to show his leadership as his Mom was not in country, but as all of us saw he failed miserably there. He maintained a deafening silence for long and in the end when he spoke that was so immature. All the goodwill that he had earned through propagation of him as youth icon by his party vanished. And that is precisely what; lead us to second comparison to last Mughal. A little reality check and historical account taking, beginning from the 1990s, will perhaps put issues in even better perspective.

The last decade of the previous century began the rollback of a left-of-centre, pro-people, secular-reformist agenda in Indian politics. May be we would have never approached this agenda had World Bank and IMF had not forced us to open our economy in exchange of loan. Although Congress was forced to follow reformist agenda, which definitely benefitted the country at large, but in the process in absence of populist policies it lost the support of masses or lets say mostly illiterate masses. It culminated in the right-wing NDA governmentcoming to power in the late 1990s. They carried out further reforms with greatest zeal and middle class saw a rise in its fortunes. For the first time foundation of long term growth was being made as country had never before seen such stable growth for such a long period of time. They invested heavily in infrastructure and in the process did not pursue any populist policy believing that all will understand the benefits of development. They had forgotten that this is a country of illiterates. Our middle class which believe so much in rights do not believe in voting unfortunately. To add to their misfortune Godhra train burning happened and riots ensued, which Congress used to polarize the country on communal lines. Overconfident NDA lost 2004 election to Congress. It was first national election which was fought on plank of development at least by one party (NDA). But to the credit of people development lost to populist promises like loan waver for farmers. This brought back Congress to power in the form of UPA.
During the UPA-I regime NREGA and other populist scheme were started. While the economist were talking about the reforms all the time and need to do away the subsidies, where they are not required; these measures spent wealth earned by the nation during a decade of reforms on political agenda.

While nation was saddened by the attack on our financial capital, by the terrorists who came from across the border, some of the leaders in government were busy in propagating new theory that how home grown terror was more dangerous.  People like Digvijay Singh were busy in dividing the country further by coining new terms like hindu terrorism. Before that terrorism used to be terrorism but these people were busy in giving colour to terrorism as well. In fact, the late Hemant Karkare died fighting terrorists while ruling party wanted to have political mileage saying just previous day he warned about terror of other colour. Death sentence of the people found guilty of terror attacks by honorable supreme court was put on hold for vote-bank politics which emboldened the terrorists even further. National security was ignored by UPA-I and the Congress party under Sonia Gandhi that even after repeated blasts affecting places of Hindu and Muslim worship, and a 26/11 type condition where entire nation was stunned.

Even with all its misdeeds UPA came back to power thanks to populist policies and division of country more on caste and communal lines. But just when UPA-II which did not offer much to the country compensated for it by passing right to education and right to food - the next set of other bills without bothering about how to implement these. Soon a series of mega scams came to light and this time it seems at least educated middle class is really fed up and they came in full force when Anna Hazare gave them an opportunity to vent out their anger. To divert the attention of people new colour was being given to acts of terror. RSS was being blamed for everything.

Soon it became evident to the economists that NREGA has failed miserable. Apart from being vehicle of corruption for small time politicians it has resulted in rise in wages for any meaningful work. Like loan wavers have made people to believe that they need not pay back the loan, this one made people to believe that they need not work hard.

However it was such a disastrous scheme, no politician from opposition could speak against it. It is such a populist measure. Its true that it increased the demand but supply side suffered and hence inflation came into being. Life of same very people who were supposed to benefit out of it became even more miserable because of inflation.
Meanwhile rather than giving any opinion or idea, so called youth icon Rahul indulged in politics of photo-shoot. Wherever there will be an opportunity he will be there trying to be seen as messiah of poor and tribal. On the one hand we talk of reforms and investment on the other hand government rejected the license of Vedanta in tribal areas of Orissa (same government had given the license), saying it was against the interest of tribal and said poster boy had lead them. All such publicity gimmicks continued. However anti-corruption crusade of Anna Hazare exposed him to real chance where you need to take a stand and for which he was not ready.

Thus there is no surprise that he has been called a man without his own views, a dumb scion and now, of course, Bahadur Shah Zafar. However we should not forget that in this country elections are decided on populist scheme and same middle class which is so much fed up with all this corruption and mis-governance would not be voting. We have a history of politicians who are there just because of their fathers and it seems it will go on unless people start understanding the meaning of development.

For all these reasons, a large, population of educated youth is disillusioned with Rahul and not want to see Rahul rise as prime minister. But with the help of populist schemes, money amassed through mega scams, pseudo- intellectuals, and non-bothering middle class, Rahul will most probably rule this country. History is on his side.
We know this country has still not matured to the level where we can do politics on development. It is not educated at that level where people can appreciate development. Elections are still won with money power and populist schemes. However Anna has really given an awakening jolt. Let’s see what happen.
